Lumen Christi Catholic High School
Resources on our Shakespeare Goals:

Lumen Christi high school students read the following plays
and poems in their English Literature class:

Year 1: Macbeth, Twelfth Night
Year 2: Othello, Romeo & Juliet
Year 3: The Taming of the Shrew, Julius Caesar
Year 4: Hamlet, The Sonnets

Shakespeare Program
The English program includes two works of Shakespeare each year as part of our course instruction. By graduation, a
Lumen Christi high school student will know seven plays and the sonnets very well.  Shakespeare's plays are particularly
suited to high school aged students as they inquire about human nature and discover their own personal tendencies and
preferences. The emphasis on Shakespeare matches the  Advanced Placement English programs of many larger
schools--our students master Shakespeare in ways that are usually not presented to high school teenagers.
Shakespeare Recitation Contest
Each fall Lumen Christi 7th through 12th graders
compete in the Recitation Contest sponsored by the
National Endowment for the Arts.
